Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain” (Titus 3:9).

Many Christians have burning questions which they do not understand and to which they receive no answer. I am convinced there are such among my readers who have often cried to God, “Why me?” And God is silent. Why does He not answer? Because He loves you. It says in Zephaniah 3:17 (Amplified), “In His love He will be silent.” The Son of God cried on the cross, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). But God was silent. Why was He silent? It was His beloved Son who was suffering the pangs of death, beladen with the sins of the world. Why did He not answer? Because He loved us, you and me, so very much (John 3:16). The singer of the Song of Solomon says, “Love is strong as death” (8:6). God loved His Son so much that He once called from heaven, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).

Jesus Christ had to taste being forsaken by God for your sake and mine, and when He cried to His Father, God was silent. Why? I repeat, because He so loved you. This love was stronger than the death of His Son.
