Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“My people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him” (Hosea 11:7).

What is the reason for the fact that so few Christians lead a really godly life? First of all, spiritual sluggishness is an obstacle. Such believers do not keep in step with the Lord, where they should walk with Him and in Him. They remain behind, lazy and sluggish in prayer and in their willingness to serve. Through this, the organic union with the Lord Jesus is interrupted. Spiritual circulatory problems are the result. In Hebrews 12:3 we are told not to become wearied and faint in our minds. Such weariness results in our becoming insensitive and unresponsive to the Word. We hear the Lord lament in Isaiah 42:20, “Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.”

These words describe spiritual weariness. Let us, therefore, give our all. In 2 Peter 1:3, we are assured that we have been given the best conditions for such a walk, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.”
