Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is” (Jeremiah 17:7).

We must learn to trust in the Lord completely and unconditionally. “He is a shield unto them that put their trust in him” (Proverbs 30:5).

Disappointment in people should not lead to bitterness, but to correction and your recognition: I did not trust in the Lord. Even if everything you have built up through years of work collapses, do not resign. The Holy Scriptures tell us, “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward” (Hebrews 10:35).

The Lord will break down more and more of the earthly supports on which we lean so that we have only Jesus to lean on. Abraham did not become the father of all believers automatically. The Lord took away everything on which he relied, little by little, but he believed. In these ever darker end times, we have all the more opportunity to honor the Lord through complete trust in Him. Let us pray, therefore, “Help Lord, for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men” (Psalm 12:1).
