Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
We as believers all have inner and outer battles to endure every day. If these battles become fiercer and fiercer, although we have received forgiveness of our sins, we should know that these battles are often indefinable temptations from our mortal enemy, Satan. We who have the Lord Jesus in our hearts can resist Satan, victoriously in faith. What about when I am weak and miserable, when I can hardly believe, when I feel nothing and it is all darkness around me? Then James gives you a wonderful answer, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.” You may draw near to God, then, in resisting the devil, for the way to Him in the inner sanctuary is free, “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus…and having an high priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith” (Hebrews 10:19, 21-22).
