Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground” (Exodus 3:5).
What did the Lord reveal to His servant, Moses?
• His holiness. This is always the first thing the Lord reveals to His children. His holiness! We are forced to take off our “shoes” in His presence; that is, to separate ourselves from all that is secular.
• His faithfulness. “I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob” (verse 6). In other words, I am the eternally faithful One who bore your father, and I will also bear you. I am He! By destroying Moses’ faith in himself through the revelation of His holiness, he received faith in God through the revelation of His faithfulness.
How did Moses react to the meeting with the Lord? “And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God” (verse 6). This was pure victory. This was what God was waiting for. Now He could call him. Only then when we are grasped by the fear of God through a meeting with the Lord, can He employ us effectively in His service.
