Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:11).
Who can fathom the depths of the humiliation of Jesus? No matter how deeply you have been humbled or how profound your humiliation, when you reach rock bottom, you will realize that Jesus sank far deeper. In Bethlehem and on Calvary we see the stripping of His power, “God was manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16).
Jesus Christ was not created; He is the Creator. He was not a man, but God. Only when we grasp the stripping of the power of Jesus in our spirit do we begin to grasp the mystery of His victory. Calvary, where He was completely stripped of His power and crucified in weakness, was the place where His power was revealed most gloriously. On Calvary, in greatest helplessness, He brought us the greatest help. There, completely overcome by His enemies, He won the greatest victory. Behold, the Lamb, stripped of His power! Jesus alone is now the source of our power.
