Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now” (John 16:12).
How the Lord longs to tell us more! How He longs to give us light concerning His intentions in our hearts! But often He has to wait—like here with His disciples. He had things to tell them that only those who had experienced Pentecost could understand with their hearts. He can only impart to us the deepest secrets of His heart according to the measure in which we are filled with the same Spirit. When He washed the feet of His disciples, Peter asked Him, “Lord, dost thou wash my feet?” Jesus answered him, “What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter” (John 13:6-7). Here is the answer to the question of why there are many things in the Holy Scriptures that you do not understand and cannot grasp. Humble yourself even more! Be emptied of your own nature, so that you can be filled more with the Holy Spirit. Then He can reveal the depths of the Godhead to you, “God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:10).
