Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Wherefore comfort one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:18).

It is a part of our discipleship to comfort one another. It is my heartfelt desire that you should truly understand the expression “the God of all comfort,” which we read of in 2 Corinthians 1:3. Because the nature of God is love, He is the “God of all comfort.”  Whatever trials and temptations, disappointments, sadness and sickness you may have, He is prepared to comfort you in such a way that you are simultaneously helped. The wonderful comfort that we can give one another through true fellowship with the Father and the Son is that we testify, “Our Lord is coming soon!” Our comfort and our hope is the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, which will take place very soon! Because God is love and therewith “the God of all comfort,” we love Him and we “love his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8). We are willing, through His indwelling love, to give up all worldly things and to concentrate all our love on the coming Lord.  “The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts” (Romans 5:5). Only in this reality are we able to pass on the comfort of the love of God to a world full of trouble and tears.  Soon Jesus Christ will return and “God shall wipe away all tears” (Revelation 21:4), from our eyes too!
