Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Psalm 103:1-2).

Thanksgiving and praise produce miracles, especially when you are in an inner prison and everything seems locked up and bolted, when the Bible no longer speaks to you and you can hardly utter the name of Jesus. Praise was offered by Paul and Silas when they lay in prison with bleeding backs. When they prayed, sang and praised God, He opened the doors of the prison and broke their chains.
Begin to give thanks and to praise God, whatever the “prison” may be in which you find yourself. When we sing to the Lord and praise Him, He opens the doors of our circumstances and difficulties. He does not solve the problem, maybe, but He makes us free of it. And if the answer to your prayer takes time, then praise the Lord all the more! When we go through trials, praising the Lord will strengthen our faith. The praise on our lips shows that there really is faith in our hearts. When you see that, you will be led through praise and thanksgiving into the secret of a continual supply of strength.
