Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day” (Proverbs 4:18).

We would all like nothing more than for it to be sunshine all the way. Fog is unpleasant, and can even be dangerous for those who are driving. Once when we were surrounded by thick fog in the lower hill country where we lived, I said to my family, “Let’s go and find some sun!” We only had to drive a few hundred meters higher up, and we were suddenly in bright sunshine.

This is how it is in the lives of Christians. Do you often have to go through foggy periods where your vision is clouded, and the danger of colliding with your neighbor is far greater because you no longer see things clearly? Does it often appear to be dismal inside you because the sun of grace is veiled? What do you do in such a situation, when you feel depressed? Do the only right thing! Go up higher! “Nearer my God to Thee!” By resisting the enemy and drawing near to God, the dangerous fog in your soul will disappear. The darkness will leave you, and you will regain your clear vision of Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith.
