Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away” (1 Peter 5:2-4).

The crown of glory is firstly for the shepherds of the Church, for the pastors. These have a great responsibility. They are also a special target of the enemy. Do not criticize your pastor but pray for him rather, so that he preaches the Word in the power of the Spirit and is able to do his job and one day receive the crown of glory.
It is my opinion, however, that this crown is also intended for fathers and mothers in Christ, who are examples for the flock. Are you an example? Can they see Jesus in you? Are you a pillar in your church? It is of utmost importance that Jesus Christ can grow in us and that we become examples. We should not remain spiritual babies, but grow to reach full stature in Christ. The crown of glory is prepared for you too!
