Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25).

What day is meant here? The day of the return of Jesus, and we are to wait for Him. The egocentric nature in us says, “I want to be free; I do not want to give myself up!”  “Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us” (Psalm 2:3). Self tries to maintain its individuality. That, however, is not waiting for “the day approaching.” I am deeply convinced that when the Lord comes, He expects to find His own united as on the day of Pentecost, when He came upon them through the Holy Spirit. “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place” (Acts 2:1). Do you have fellowship with other believers? If there is no true fellowship of the saints where you live, why don’t you open your house for such fellowship in the Word and prayer? “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart” (Acts 2:46). True fellowship with the Lord and His saints prepares for the rapture. This is expressed visibly through persevering fellowship with other Christians.
