Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“...In lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves” (Philippians 2:3).

Whether we have the mind of Jesus is expressed by our relationship with our neighbor. Please examine this relationship according to the Biblical principles of the mind of Jesus:
• Humility is not a virtue but the actual foundation of the mind of Jesus. He says, “I am meek and lowly in heart” (Matthew 11:29). We only have true humility in the immediate presence of the holy God. Only in this way are we capable of esteeming our brother or sister higher than ourselves. Whoever sees himself in the light of the majesty of God always esteems the spiritual quality of the other higher than his own.  This is why spiritual pride is the greatest self-deception.
• Brotherly love is another principle of the mind of Jesus and is closely connected to the first. “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another” (Romans 12:10). Those who practice this love honor the Lord in their brother or sister. Such a person knows no man after the flesh; thus, he honors every brother and sister. He sees and honors the Lord in them. Such honoring is also seen by the fact that you do not speak too much of your own holiness and experiences.
