Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28).

The fifth principle of the mind of Jesus is holy service to our neighbor. “By love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13). Jesus Himself is the actual source. He loved you and me so much! The highest service for God is the surrender of our lives. To serve Him means to take the lower path and to expect no recognition, no reward, no thanks, but simply to serve because Jesus served you. This is victorious service!

The sixth principle is, “Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:32). Have you forgiven your brother or sister, as the Lord has forgiven you? I do not doubt that you have been hurt and ignored by them, but have you forgiven them? What a blessed atmosphere unfeigned kindness creates. It was there when Jesus was a guest of Martha and Mary, and Mary anointed Jesus’ feet with precious ointment, “…and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment” (John 12:3). When someone enters your house, they notice immediately whether this glorious aroma of heartfelt kindness fills your house.
