Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live” (Isaiah 55:2-3).

How can you joyfully obey Him if you do not know and love Him? “O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea” (Isaiah 48:18). When you do what pleases Him, He is always with you. To do His will is the only food that can satisfy your soul. But it is clear that if you do not know the Lord, you cannot love Him, obey Him or trust Him with all your heart. And yet this trust in Him is the only solution to all your problems, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5). What do you have to do, then? Respond to His invitation, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18). Often and urgently this invitation of the Lord is repeated in the Scriptures, “Turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn unto you” (Zechariah 1:3).
