Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death” (Hebrews 11:5).

The name Enoch means “dedicated.” Enoch was a man who was dedicated to God in a godless age. What is a person who is dedicated to God? Someone who lives undeterred in the center of the will of God. The Lord Jesus was a Man who was dedicated to God. “And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him” (John 8:29).

In Enoch we see three results of a dedicated life, namely his walk with God (Genesis 5:24), his faith in God (Hebrews 11:5), and his testimony for God (Jude 14).

Enoch’s faith in God led him to his rapture. From this we see that, like Moses, he endured “as seeing him who is invisible” (Hebrews 11:27), and he believed the invisible God more than visible things. Faith was the basis of his rapture. What was his testimony for God? Just this: “The Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints” (Jude 14). Those who believe in God and walk with God recognize the Lord’s intentions for the future; thus, they have to proclaim the coming of the Lord.
