Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” (Genesis 1:27).

God wants man to go the way of perfection, so that he can be returned to the image of God again. When God had finished making man with His master hands, He saw Himself in these first people, “And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (Genesis 1:31). The first people must have been extraordinarily beautiful, but through sin they lost this image of God. This is why God sent His only-begotten Son, to redeem fallen man from sin and to transform hiim into His image again. When a person comes to recognize his sins, he receives Jesus Christ in his heart. Such a person understands that Jesus carried away all his sins on Calvary’s cross, reconciling the sinner with God. Then the wonderful thing that is described in John 1:12 takes place, “As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” From this moment on, the Holy Spirit works in the person concerned the ever-growing desire to be like Jesus. This is the way to perfection. When we arrive at the goal and are with Him as we long for, “…we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2).
