Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him” (John 14:23).
Here the Lord speaks of the greatest and deepest mystery: the Father and the Son come and dwell in a person who loves God, through the Holy Spirit. When you open the door of your heart, you suddenly discover that the Lord Himself lives in you. This is surely what the profound words of Proverbs 8:17 mean, “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.” This “seeking Him early” speaks of the fact that He wants to have first place in your life and highest priority in your heart. “Those that seek me early” also means, simply put, those who first seek Him every morning. Just imagine, the triune God, the Father and the Son, want to dwell in mortal man through the Holy Spirit! The urgent question for you who love Him and keep His Word is, are you really a dwelling place for Him? The Lord rejoices when He can say to those who love Him, “Come and see: this is where I live!” Can He point to you and say that He lives in you? Does He feel at home in your heart?
