Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered” (Hebrews 5:8).

If we want to experience victory in our daily lives, we must be willing to be obedient. A definite inner decision has to precede this. If I have an inner “Yes” to the Lord, if I want to do what He requires at all costs, then He can reveal His will to me and through me.  Let us consider the Lord Jesus. What was the foundation of His unconditional victory? His secret was His obedience. Many people do not become completely obedient outwardly because they have not yet become obedient inwardly. You must consider before the Lord, do I want to do what He wants at all costs? Then obedience will be followed by victory. Obedience is an inward decision that has outward results. What did the Lord Jesus say before He went to the cross, even before He became flesh, from eternity? “Lo, I come…I delight to do thy will, O my God” (Psalm 40:7-8). In eternity, before the foundation of the world, the decision had already been made by the Son of God. His coming to this earth was implementing the will of God. It is important for us to see clearly what obedience is. Obedience means doing the will of God, and then God can work through us unhindered.
