Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction” (Isaiah 48:10).

God often lets His saints here on earth experience inconceivable hardships. The explanation for this is given us by the prophet Isaiah. From my personal life, I could tell of inexplicable hardships and afflictions that nobody could understand. But our faithful Lord has continually comforted, strengthened and given new courage. Through all the darkness, He continually let His radiant glory shine, as He did with His servants whom we can read about in the gallery of the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11.
In the above Bible verse, we have an explanation for why children of God often have to go through deep sorrow. Why? To hold on in faith, as Job once did, and thereby others are also made perfect. We must prove through faith that we have everything we need in Him. The Psalmist says in chapter 73:25-26, “Whom have I in heaven but thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.” In this way, you will be filled with deep joy and peace in the midst of the trials, hardships and tribulations you are led through.
