Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Romans 8:26).

If it really is so that the Holy Spirit prays through us, then it is not our requests but the requests of God that He wants to realize. When the Holy Spirit can pray through us, then the answer is guaranteed. Let us consider six aspects of prayer.
1. Be prepared to receive.
The Holy Spirit mediates to us that which God wants to give us. Consequently, we must be prepared to receive the Holy Spirit. Many will object and say, we already have the Holy Spirit. This is true if we are born again, for, “…no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost”
(1 Corinthians 12:3). But we are not full of the Holy Spirit.  This is why we need to be prepared to receive a new fullness of the Holy Spirit in us. How can we be prepared? “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication” (Acts 1:14). This is the foundation, i.e. precondition to be able to receive the Holy Spirit. To be inwardly prepared is thus the most important thing.
