Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Let us draw near with a true heart…” (Hebrews 10:22).
2. Be prepared to be completely truthful.
It is senseless to hold prayer meetings if we do not want the truth. The apostle John also mentions this in 1 John 3:18-19, “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.” The apostle wants to say with these words, “If we are completely truthful and do what we profess to believe, then we can rest our hearts in prayer before Him.” We will then be able to rest in Him who is the truth, and are able to pray until we are sure we have been heard. Many children of God, however, do not penetrate to the innermost sanctuary because the door is closed. They pray halfheartedly, and are relieved when they can say “Amen.” Is anything in you blocking the way because you are not prepared to be completely truthful? There are many prayer meetings in our land, and yet there is no revival, no breakthrough, because we are not prepared to receive and to be completely truthful.
