Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“And the Lord said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?” (Joshua 7:10).

4. Be prepared to be judged.

This is a sore point. There is nothing that searches our hearts more than prayer. When we pray, we come into the holy presence of God and the depths of our being are brought to light. Everything is revealed, and if there is a hindrance to our prayer, it is futile to say, “Lord, if there is anything in me, take it away….” This is a cheap excuse. If there is anything there, the Lord points His finger at it and shows us why it is that we do not experience a breakthrough in prayer. We see this with Joshua, “And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the Lord until the eventide…” (Joshua 7:6). We must be prepared to be judged! “And the Lord said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?” (Joshua 7:10). Once we do away with pious phrases, pious talk and break through, then we will be prepared to be judged. There is no point in going to a prayer meeting if we are not prepared for this. True prayer is being prepared to be judged.
