Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

The Holy Spirit continually points to Jesus, the living proof of God’s love for us. When Joseph, Jacob’s favorite son, was sold by his envious brothers to a caravan traveling to Egypt, he could hardly have imagined that God only had good and kind intentions with him. But God projected in Joseph, who was sold for 20 pieces of silver by Judah—Jesus Christ, who about 1,800 years later was sold by Judas for 30 pieces of silver. What a profound prophetic mystery: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God wants to achieve His way through you too, by your acceptance of the way of the cross. In other words, He wants to point to Jesus Christ through you, and in this way reveal His unfathomable love. This is what Paul intended to say when he cried out: “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you” (Galatians 4:19).  He meant that we should become one with Jesus Christ and willingly and joyfully accept every way that God leads us, so that His love is revealed.
