“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16).
What should your attitude be before God in prayer? Miserable in yourself, yet perfect, just and blameless! How is this possible? Only through the blood of Jesus can we attain to the righteousness that counts with God. Consequently, we can only appear before the throne of God through the holy blood of Jesus, “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus…” (Hebrews 10:19). We can never speak with God, then, without first claiming cleansing in the blood of Jesus. This precondition is often ignored. That’s why it is difficult for you to intercede. You have forgotten that you can only approach God through the blood of Jesus. This means that we cannot draw near to God without the Holy Spirit glorifying the Lamb. Without realizing something of what He suffered for our sakes, we are simply not partakers. Suffering drives us to worship, and worship is always the foundation for true intercession. Never come thoughtlessly, therefore, into the holy presence of God, for He will not hear you if you do not approach Him consciously through the blood of Jesus.
