Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not” (John 21:18).

The Lord said to Peter, “You led yourself until now, but the time is coming when you will be led where you do not want to go.” We may always be assured of the Lord’s leading. We are also being led by Him when we do not notice it. We have many promises to that effect in the Bible. Think of Psalm 32:8, for instance, “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Yet there are many Christians who are misled instead of being led. What is the reason you cannot see the way? It is your accursed self-will, which darkens your view and brings you great distress. Reach out to Him anew today and say, “Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.” Then He will lead you where you do not want to go by nature—to Calvary—but He will lead you in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. It’s no longer you trying to find the way, but His guiding. He promised to guide you with His eye!
