Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life” (1 John 5:12).

The fact that a person has been born again cannot remain hidden, for Jesus said, “Ye shall know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:16). If you are a Christian in name only, this fruit will be lacking. You are ashamed of confessing Jesus, and when you have the chance, you take the way of least resistance. You “don’t talk about things like that,” it is said. Of course not, for how can you speak of a new life, how can you testify to Jesus, if you do not have Him? Just think for a moment. Are you born again, or are you merely following others? The truly born-again person must be a witness for Jesus, for he has experienced Him as the One who bore his sins. Through word and deed, through the whole life of a born again person, Jesus Christ is revealed. Why? Because Christ Himself lives in the heart of this person through His Spirit. Perhaps you are arguing now, “Well, I know Christians whose deeds speak so loudly that I can’t hear their words!” Unfortunately, you are right. But these “Christians” will one day have to give account before the throne of God. Does this change your position, however? What will your religion profit you if you do not come to Christ today, if you do not venture to take the personal step of faith to Jesus?
