Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee” (Deuteronomy 31:6).
How wonderful! He Himself, the eternal, almighty God, says to you that you need not fear, for He Himself will be with you. What does it mean to go with the Lord, with the eternal God? If He had not promised this Himself, that He will go with us, I would not dare to speak any further of this. But it is possible to walk with the eternal God. To walk not only means to go forwards, but also to keep in step with Him. This keeping in step with Him comes from inner peace, from resting in Him. If there is a disharmony between the living God and your soul, if there is sin between you and Him, then you cannot keep in step with Him. Then you will either walk too fast or too slow. In Amos 3:3 it says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” In other words, the basic condition to be able to walk with the living God is that you have become one with Him, one with the Holy One—through the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed blood. Then you will let yourself be led by His steps alone.
