Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed” (Hebrews 12:12-13).
The strategy of the battle of faith is concerned with the execution of individual orders of the captain: march, reconnaissance, safety and shelter. As children of God, we must never retreat, but always go forwards. We cannot afford any cease-fire; we must continually hold up the banner. Reconnaissance means to recognize the intentions of the enemy. Why? “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11). Only those who have surrendered unconditionally to Jesus Christ can be His warriors, “…I was not rebellious, neither turned away back” (Isaiah 50:5). Those who, like Paul, however, walk with Jesus in absolute obedience, also recognize the reality and the tactics of the enemy. This is what Paul meant when he said, “We are not ignorant of his devices.” Paul knew the subtlety of the enemy, but he also knew of the victory of Jesus. This is why he overcame in the fight of faith, and at the end of his life he could look back and testify,
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).
