EUROPE - Undersea Cable Destroyed
Germany and Finland say they are “deeply concerned” after an undersea cable linking the countries was severed.
The rupture of the 1,170km (730-mile) telecommunications cable—which is being investigated—comes at a time of heightened tension with Russia.
Separately, a 218km (135-mile) internet link between Lithuania and Sweden’s Gotland Island also lost service, a Swedish telecommunications company said.
German prosecutors are still investigating the explosion of Nord Stream gas pipelines between Russia and Germany.
There have been conspiracy theories around that attack, with unconfirmed rumors that either the Ukrainian, Russian or US government was behind it.

Arno's Commentary
This article shows the necessity of interconnections globally. Finish network operator Cinia’s spokesperson emphasizes that these breaks can’t happen “without an outside impact.” Some of the freak accidents have been explained; for example, in October 2023, a gas pipeline was ruptured. The reason? “A Chinese container ship dragging its anchor.”
What lies in our interest is globalization. It matters not whether we are for or against; it is happening, and will continue to progress until the whole world sees the apparently remarkable success of the spirit of Antichrist—or, to say it with Scripture, “and all the world wondered after the beast” (Revelation 13:3b).
