Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
The soul is the organ with which we feel emotion and grasp and deal with earthly things. The danger is great that we let ourselves be led by our emotions, and here the enemy finds a foothold. He clouds our view of Jesus. The confusing of the emotional and the spiritual means to confuse what is temporal with what is eternal. This confusion opens the door for the enemy in the life of a believer. It is easy for Satan to use sheer emotions or even wishes so that you think the Lord has said this or that to you. You may belong to the category of people who are so quick to say, “The Lord told me,” but it proves not to be true in the long run. You can have power over all the power of the enemy only through the Word of God! Obey the Word and let the Word judge you, so that the emotional and the spiritual are divided in you. You must become a spiritual person. Then you will see clearly again. Then your spirit will be led by the Spirit of God on a straight path, and the “up in the clouds” to “down in the dumps” will cease. Your heart will be rooted in Jesus. This takes place through grace.
