Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“…So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:7).

When we are waiting for Him, He takes away our worries and we receive grace to concentrate on Him alone. Those who are solely waiting for Him have no lack of any gift, physical or spiritual, but are showered with blessing because their lives are concentrated on Jesus alone.
Through waiting for Jesus, we are increasingly liberated from all earthly things, that “we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world” (Titus 2:12). Therefore, only those who have found grace can wait for Jesus. Grace is not an umbrella, however, beneath which we can promenade our old nature and say, “We are all under grace! Sin is not so serious.” On the contrary! The grace of God teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. Only then have we the right to wait for the blessed hope and appearing of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
