Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
In waiting for Jesus, we receive what we so badly need in these days: new strength. Do you know that the Lord is waiting for you to wait for Him? It says this in Isaiah 30:18, “Therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you.” He wants to be one with you! In waiting for Him, we not only come nearer to Him timewise, but also in our nature, so that we become increasingly one with Jesus. In waiting for Him, your eyes will be opened to a new and glorious truth: I belong to His Church. I can rest in Him because I am one with Jesus, a member of His body. Those who are waiting for Jesus begin to understand that they no longer need to try to abide in Him, but that they are already in Jesus. You are in Him, and as a branch you no longer need to draw the sap out of the vine, but His life continually flows through you, whether you feel it or not. In this way, the waiting and expectation of Jesus becomes wonderful fulfillment even right now.
