Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother” (Psalm 131:2).
You can find everything you need in the Lord. He is perfect love. He loves you more than your father and mother together are able to love you. David knew what he was talking about when, inspired by the Holy Spirit, he said, “Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation” (Psalm 62:1). Do you understand now why a spirit of haste makes you inwardly restless, especially before the Christmas holidays? You say you believe in Jesus, and yet you let yourself be pursued through life like a hunted deer. When you sing, “Silent night, holy night” in a few days, do not rest until your heart has become still in Him. Do not flee into activity, but let the reason for your inability to be still be revealed in His holy presence. Sin is the cause, but Jesus is the remedy. That’s why Jesus was born in Bethlehem, and afterwards went to Calvary. Did He do everything in vain for you? Jesus embraced the children. Become like a child. Flee through the Lord Jesus to the heart of God, and you will be renewed in the stillness of His presence. These words are addressed especially to children of God who have been made new through faith, but continually need to be renewed through obedience of faith.
