Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend” (Exodus 33:11).
Of Moses we read so simply, “And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God” (Exodus 19:17). What gave Moses such authority? The answer is simple: Moses lived in the direct presence of God. Moses had found grace in the eyes of the Lord. I want to emphasize that you can only lead a person to the Lord so far as you yourself live in the presence of God. Your spiritual children are what you are spiritually. The Lord wants to draw you to Himself with cords of love today. When we sank into sin and corruption, Jesus went much deeper. He caught us there to draw us to His Father’s heart again. Therefore, the question is of such eminent importance: how far have you come to the Lord inwardly? If you are far from Him, then hear now what He is calling to you, “Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee” (Jeremiah 31:3). The drawing of God to Himself takes place via Calvary. The overpowering love of God, which drew Him to the cross, wants to draw us to the cross. There we are nearest to God, for there we are hidden with Christ in God; there we are one with Him.
