Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day” (Psalm 25:4-5).
Here we have the so necessary prayer for leading. Why is this so necessary? Because only God’s ways are perfect, and therefore only His way for you is blessed. Between God’s ways and your own, there is a great chasm. The Scriptures say clearly where our own ways lead us, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12). It is a great tragedy when it says in Isaiah 53:6, “We have turned every one to his own way.” Therefore, the question is all the more urgent, namely, what is the Lord’s way for you? We read in Psalm 77:13, “Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary.” His way is holy, but this is the very reason that so few find this wonderful way, for “narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life” (Matthew 7:14). On this holy, narrow way, there is no room for our ego. The adjectives “holy” and “narrow” also emphasize the unique nature of His way for you. There is no other way, and on this way there is only room for two: the Lamb and you.
