Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast keep my word, and hast not denied my name” (Revelation 3:8).
To whom did the Lord give an open door? To those who had little strength. This is a message of hope for all those who are hopelessly weak. It is God’s nature to glorify Himself in weakness. Remember this, you who so yearn for power and the feeling of strength. How often we ask for the opposite of what God wants to give us. He said, “My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Why doesn’t the Lord need our strength? Because our strength only accomplishes temporal things, but His strength works eternal things. This is why we must become weak, because our own strength holds up and diverts God’s strength. He gives this open door to those who keep His Word. How few remain standing on the foundation of the whole Bible. What does the Lord say, however? “To this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word” (Isaiah 66:2). Are you willing to let this Word judge you ever deeper? God does not expect strength of you but obedience.
