“Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37).

The Lord Jesus spoke this tremendous, ever-valid Word. It is embedded in His great speech about what He is. “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst” (verse 35). Then in the following verse, the Lord laments over the fact that they do not want to believe Him. Finally, He refers to His Father and utters that mighty promise, “Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”

The validity of this promise is unlimited. It does not say, “The sinner who comes to Me for the first time, I will not cast out,” but, “Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” He is saying here that He will not cast out any person who comes to Him, either for the first time or at any time after this. He will never do it. What about the Christian who has come to Jesus and then sins again? This promise still applies, for the same John writes in his first letter, “If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1).
