Spiritual Strength For Each Day
“I have yet to speak on God’s behalf” (Job 36:2).
We should never boast over our spiritual gifts in order to receive praise from people, or so that our zeal for the Lord’s work is publicly acknowledged. At the same time, it is a sin of omission if we continually attempt to hide what the Lord has given us for our fellow men. The glorious purpose of conversion is that we become something, “To the praise of the glory of his grace” (Ephesians 1:6). Christians should not be like a village in a valley, but as a city on a hill. As a child of God, you should not be a candle hidden under a bushel, but you must be a light that is placed upon a candlestick, so that it illuminates everyone who comes into the house. But true light-bearers disappear in the light, and only the light they bear is seen. It is, therefore, true self-denial when we withdraw so as not to be seen. But it is never justified when we hide Jesus Christ, the truly risen Lord, who has taken up residence in our hearts. What a tremendous task we have in these end times, especially now as we draw ever closer to the Rapture.
