Spiritual Strength For Each Day

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:10-12).

We are told to “fight the good fight of faith” in 1 Timothy 6:12. Do not imagine, however, that it is our faith through which we fight; it is the faith of our Lord Jesus. Paul says this quite clearly in Galatians 2:20, “The life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God.” Jesus Christ is God’s unspeakable gift to us, and in Him and through Him God has given us faith, His faith. The Scriptures testify of Him that He is the Author and Finisher of faith. For this reason, nobody can be proud of his or her strong faith, but those who glory should glory in the fact that they know the Lord. So thank God that in His unfathomable grace He has given you Jesus, and with Him all things. Those who have received Jesus may rejoice with Paul, “How shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32).
