This is another book where the cover design does not do justice to the content. It seems to target abortion; not so. The subject matter can be revealed with one word: information. That’s what the over 440 pages is all about. This is the most challenging, scholarly, yet most fascinating volume regarding life and information this writer has ever read.

In contrast, Friedrich Engels (1820-1895), co-founder of Marxism, insisted: “The material world observable by our senses, to which we ourselves belong, is the only reality.” (Information, p. 173). But Nobel Prize-winning quantum physicist Erwin Schrödinger (1887-1961) wrote: “The unfolding of events in the life cycle of an organism exhibits an admirable regularity and orderliness, unrivalled by anything we meet within inanimate matter…. We must therefore not be discouraged by the difficulty of interpreting life by the ordinary laws of physics” (pp. 173-174). Simply stated, there is more to life than matter and energy, or as the Bible records: “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:23).
