#1084 We read the heavenly declaration, “And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof” (Revelation 5:5). Way back in Genesis, Jacob prophesies regarding Judah, “The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be” (Genesis 49:10). That should suffice to determine that the definition “Jew” means descendants of the tribe of Judah; hence, they are called “Jews.” Joel concludes his prophecy, “For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the Lord dwelleth in Zion” (Joel 3:21). Zephaniah crowns the promises for Judah with these words, “At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the Lord” (Zephaniah 3:20).
However, the twelve Minor Prophets include all of humanity for all times, and climax in the revelation of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who Himself declared, “Salvation is of the Jews.”
A verse-by-verse Prophecy Study of Joel, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi.
